An extraordinary piece of fielding by Dewald Brevis grabbed the eyeballs in the 2026 Indian Premier League game between Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. South African star Dewald Brevis dished out an excellent direct hit to run-out the opponent's star performer and his own national side captain Aiden Markram to provide a crucial breakthrough in the middle overs for CSK. This happened on the very first ball of the 13th over of the match when Akshat Raghuwanshi played the ball towards the long-on fielder, and straightaway called for the second run. Brevis, positioned deep in the long-on region, reacted very quickly to the situation. He collected the ball properly and fired in a thunderous throw from about 30 metres out towards the stumps. The ball hit the stumps perfectly right into the wicket as Aiden Markram tried to complete the second run. Lucknow Super Giants batter was short of his crease and had to walk back to the pavilion with a meager score of 6 runs from 7 balls. This wicket put LSG in a further rut. Lucknow Super Giants, having reached 91 runs in the first 6 overs courtesy Josh Inglis' explosive batting, were slowly clawed back by CSK through some brilliant bowling and smart fielding. Brevis' direct hit injected further zest into the CSK outfit as the Chepauk stadium was ignited on fire following the dismissal. These kinds of moments prove vital in T20 cricket, particularly when a team tries to make a comeback. Inglis Shines but CSK Fight Back Earlier in the innings Josh Inglis produced what has been arguably one of the best knocks of IPL 2026 so far, producing a masterful 85 off only 33 balls in which he hit 10 fours and six sixes as he dominated the CSK attack through the powerplay and guided LSG to 91 for the loss of one over after the first six. After an onslaught through the first 6 overs Chennai Super Kings recovered well to take wickets as Jamie Overton took three whilst Noor Ahmad and Anshul Kamboj added another wicket apiece. Although CSK bowlers managed to restrict run-flow in the middle overs, Shahbaz Ahmad (43* off 25) and Himmat Singh (17 off12) added 50 runs off 32 balls and made sure LSG reaches 203/8 after 20 overs. Despite Inglis' brilliant innings CSK's bowlers and fielders clawed their way back during the latter half of the innings, with the Brevis run-out a stand-out moment in a strong showing by them.
