David Warner, the captain of the Sydney Thunder, kept the crowd entertained at the Gabba during Match 29 of the BBL 2025-26 season. He scored a stunning knock of 82 off 56 balls against Brisbane Heat. He opened the innings with Matthew Gilkes and pounded eight boundaries and hit three towering sixes to guide his side to a strong total. Warner Mocks Zaman Khan During the Game The seasoned Aussie star grabbed headlines on-field, not just for his impressive performance, but also had an off-field moment with Pakistan's pacer. This was Zaman's first match for the Heats in place of injured senior pacer Shaheen Afridi. The right-arm quick started with 18 runs from his first two overs and was taken apart in his third. Sam Billings and Warner hammered him for 14 runs, which pushed the Thunder's scoring rate forward. The real drama unfolded between overs when Warner walked up to the umpires and complained about Zaman's action. A stump mic picked up the Thunder captain mocking the bowler's low release, saying, "He is bowling like a four-year-old bowling. It stays so low. Looks like he is throwing the ball." Nic Maddinson chipped in with 21 off 14 towards the end, helping Thunder close at a competitive 180-6 in 20 overs. For Brisbane Heat, it was a mixed outing with the ball. While other bowlers managed to keep things under check at times, Zaman's expensive overs opened scoring windows that Thunder capitalized on. The Heat batters kicked off the chase rapidly, adding 57 runs for the opening stand. They chased down the target of 181 in just 16.2 overs, thanks to a magnificent 78 off 48 by skipper Usman Khawaja and unbeaten 42 by Renshaw. With this win, Heat moved to the fifth spot in the table, while the Thunder saw themselves out of the contention.
