The third T20I between South Africa and Australia at Cazaly's Stadium, Cairns, was just the kind of beginning for the home team. Having won the toss and decided to bowl first, the Aussies did not take long to get the visitors on the back foot. During the initial seven overs, the top order of South Africa was destroyed, and they were left struggling at 49/3. The highlight of the day was in the very first over itself when Josh Hazlewood dismissed opposition captain Aiden Markram with an eye-popping catch by Cameron Green at first slip. But Green made it look so simple. On the fifth delivery of Hazlewood's first over, Markram attempted a back-foot punch off a short-of-length ball just outside off. Rather than getting it in the middle of the bat, he received a thick outside edge. The ball shot rapidly towards slip, and Green, with lightning quick reflexes, reverse-cupped the ball. What made the catch remarkable was how the ball at first appeared destined to explode through his hands. Green attempted to go two-handed but naturally balanced out, and the ball jammed into his right palm. His teammates swarmed to him in jubilation, and the crowd exploded as South Africa lost their captain without gaining any runs. Moments such as these tend to shape the nature of T20 cricket, and Green's was an effort that will long be remembered. Having just had his outrageous century in the last game, the youngster again displayed his aggressive style of play. Coming in with his team under duress, Brevis went on the counterattack from the very first ball, punishing the Australian bowlers to all parts of the field. He got to his half-century in 22 balls, giving the Proteas spectators in the stands goosebumps. Along with Tristan Stubbs, he formed a game-changing 61-run fourth-wicket stand that provided South Africa with much-needed impetus. His 53 off 26 deliveries included one solid boundary and six towering sixes which left the Australian bowlers bewildered. But just as he appeared destined for another huge score, Glenn Maxwell made a wise catch to end his stay. Brevis walked off to raucous applause, having once again reminded everyone of his brilliant talent.
