In the 5th match of Women's Big Bash League (WBBL), Sydney Sixers locked horns with Adelaide Strikers, who batted first to put up a challenging total of 172. In the chase, Sydney Sixers faced an early blow as Hollie Armitage was dismissed on the seventh ball of the innings. Later, in the tensed fourth over things took a turn for worse with Darcie Brown delivering a ball outside off stump that Ellyse Perry missed. The ball had a bounce ahead of wicket-keeper Bridget Patterson and hit her just below the right eye, compelling her to leave the field following the nasty blow. Patterson received a blow on the cheek below her eye and the game was briefly halted until she was evacuated off the field with assistance.
