Australia is in deep trouble after they lost four wickets, especially after losing Travis Head against Zimbabwe. On February 13, Australia is playing their second game of the group stage at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. There, while chasing 170, Australia suffered repeated blows in their early overs. Travis Head, their known top-order aggressor and their stand-in captain in place of injured Mitchell Marsh, was the fourth wicket for Australia on the day. In the 5th over, Zimbabwe bowler Brad Evans delivered a length ball, which Head tried to guide over the covers. But the ball got a healthy inside edge, dunked his pads, and then rolled into the stumps's base. Head was visibly frustrated, but what caught the attention was Brad Evans' celebration. Yesterday, Arshdeep Singh, against Namibia, adopted the Cristiano Ronaldo SIUU celebration honed by Mohammed Siraj in cricket. And today it was Brad Evans against Australia. Zimbabwe at this point has taken 7 wickets, leaving no batters saved in the Australian camp. Currently, all eyes are on Matt Renshaw, hoping to save an "upset," which should not be called so. At this point, if Zimbabwe falters on the go, it must be an upset given the effort they produced on the field. Australia was already coming from a 0-3 whitewash from Pakistan, getting a breather against Ireland, their maiden outing in the tournament. And Zimbabwe's result might add more woes. Zimbabwe produced a commanding all-round performance to post 169/2 in 20 overs before bowling Australia out for 131 in 17.4 overs. Brian Bennett anchored the innings with an unbeaten 64 off 56 balls, while Tadiwanashe Marumani (35 off 21) and Ryan Burl (35 off 30) provided solid support. Sikandar Raza’s late cameo of 25* off 13 lifted the run rate to 8.45. In reply, Australia collapsed to 29/4 inside the powerplay. Meanwhile, Zimbabwe's fielding deserves a special mention at Colombo.
