In the 6th match of Big Bash League 2024-25, Ben Duckett stunned D'Arcy Short and Strikers with an absolute screamer. D'Arcy Short, who was charging on the Stars' bowlers all around the park in his first game of the season, had to take a long walk to the pavilion after Ben Duckett took a fabulous catch on the fourth ball of the 15th over. Siddle, who was bowling the last over of his spell, bowled an overpitched delivery outside the off stump. Short cleared his front foot and smashed it over covers and the ball was travelling at a rapid pace. However, Duckett grabbed the ball with his right hand, timing his jump perfectly. His brilliance at the covers shortened the innings of D'Arcy Short at 60 off 42. Strikers, who were asked to bat first, lost both their openers inside the powerplay, followed by a wicket of Ollie Pope in the 11th over. However, D'Arcy Short's 60 and Alex Ross' 35 assisted by James Bazely's 16 took the Strikers to 165 at the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Adam Milne and Peter Siddle bagged 2 wickets each of Melbourne Stars, while Glenn Maxwell and Doug Warren had 1 each ahead of their name. Melbourne Stars also had a similar start as Adelaide Strikers as they lost two wickets inside the first six overs. Duckett lost his wicket for a first ball duck, while Stoinis, who added 27 off 19 was the second batter to lose his wicket. Maxwell also departed early after scoring 15 off just 5 deliveries. At the time of writing, Stars are in the need of 50 runs in 24 balls and the chase seems to be impossible as they are already seven wickets down.
