Mumbai Indians (MI) broke the jinx at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur by defeating Rajasthan Royals at this venue after 2012. The visiting team completely dominated the home side by not just handing a 100-run defeat but also knocking them out of the playoffs race. As the game ended, players of both the teams were coming out of the dug out for a handshake. Rohit Sharma, who was already standing near the boundary rope was approached by a ball boy wearing an RR cap. The little kid shook the hand with Rohit and later went on to touch his feet. Rohit gave a hug to his young fan and this gesture of him shows his humble nature. The Rohit-Rickelton duo added 116 runs for the first wicket before Riyan Parag got the better of Rohit Sharma for 53 off 36. In the very next over, Rickelton too lost his wicket for 61 off 38. However, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya continued the mayhem and took the total of MI to 217 at the loss of 2 wickets after 20 overs. Rajasthan, who had chased over 200 within 15 overs in their last match against GT, failed to repeat the same against Mumbai. The centurion of the last match, Vaibhav Suryavanshi went for a duck, while Yashasvi Jaiswal went back for 13. The sequence of wickets falling continued as RR were reduced to 91 for 9 in 11.5 overs. Archer, however, showcased his hitting skills and his 30-run knock helped Rajasthan Royals cross the 100-run mark. However, Trent Boult got the better of Archer in the 17th over, bowling out RR for mere 117 runs. Trent Boult and Karn Sharma shared six wickets between them, picking up three each, while Bumrah took two wickets. Deepak Chahar and Hardik Pandya also picked up a wicket each. With this win, Mumbai Indians secured the top spot in the points table with seven wins in 11 matches. All they need is just one win in their next three matches to confirm their playoff berth.
