The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that Mohammad Rizwan will be the new white-ball captain of Pakistan, replacing Babar Azam. This is not the first time star batter Babar has stepped down; he had previously handed over the captaincy to the left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi but was reappointed later. The PCB has also announced their squad for the series. Babar will play in Australia series but has been rested out for Zimbabwe tour. The Australia series is scheduled to begin on 4th of November 2024 and the series opener will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Interestingly, only Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have made it to Category A in the PCB's latest central contracts. Despite being inconsistent lately, Babar is on this list. Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah have been demoted to Category B after holding higher positions previously.
