Pakistan is going to face off against Bangladesh in a two-match Test series at home—the first international challenge after the early exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. This is an important series for Pakistan as it belongs to the World Test Championship 2023-25 calendar. During this WTC cycle, the Pakistan team has defeated Sri Lanka in a two-match series and then lost 3-0 against Australia. Much attention is on white-ball captain of Pakistan, Babar Azam, as he has gone through a very difficult year with the bat. The 29-year-old hasn't scored a single century in any format within 20 innings this year. Babar is working hard at the nets to regain his lost form and make the Bangladesh series memorable. His last international century came in August 2023; his last Test hundred was in December 2022. A video of Babar from a net session went viral recently. In the video, one can see Babar kicking a stump in anger after edging a ball while trying to play a shot away from his body. He then resets the stump calmly and continues practice. The conditions are going to be conducive for fast bowlers, and hence, Pakistan has picked a pace-heavy bowling attack with four pacers for the series. More importantly, this is going to be a very important series for Babar, as well as Pakistan, with much pressure on him to perform and looking at the chances of improving their standing in the World Test Championship.
