Pakistan batter Babar Azam has been fined by the ICC after a freakish moment in the third ODI against Sri Lanka. Babar was found guilty of breaching Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct, that prohibits the abuse of cricket equipment or cricket ground, clothing, equipment or other types of property during an international match. The incident occurred in the 21st over of Pakistan's innings and that resulted in a fine and a demerit point on his record. What Happened During the Match Babar Azam was batting on 34 when he got bowled by Jeffrey Vandersay. As soon as the ball crashed into the off stump, Babar showed visible frustration and hit the stumps with his bat while turning and walking off the field. Even though the act lasted only a moment, it caught the attention of the match officials. Later on, the match referee Ali Naqvi confirmed the fine and one demerit point addition. This becomes Babar's first offence in the last 24 months. Since Babar accepted the mistake and agreed to the punishment, no formal hearing was conducted by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
