Virat Kohli had an elusive day out batting on Friday (May 23) after getting off to a fantastic start in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. When chasing down a massive 232 run target posed by the SRH, RCB needed to get off to a good start and Kohli did that. Kohli wasted no time showing his intent by hitting the first ball he faced for a four. On just the second delivery of the innings bowled by SRH captain Pat Cummins, Kohli slashed the ball over backward point for four runs. In the next over, he hit Jaydev Unadkat for another four runs then he punished Cummins by hitting him for two more fours in the third over. Kohli went to work on Harshal Patel now too, hitting two more fours from his old RCB teammate. By the fifth over, Kohli hit yet another boundary to bring up 50 in just 4.4 over for RCB. In the last over of the powerplay, Kohli hit his first six of the innings as he launched Eshan Malinga over deep mid-wicket. At the end of the powerplay, RCB was 72/0 and Kohli was 42 off just 22 balls. pic.twitter.com/0M7xqsNQhx — Drizzyat12Kennyat8 (@45kennyat7PM) May 23, 2025 Also Read | Who are the batters to have been retired out in the history of IPL? He goes for a cut against Harsh Dubey, totally misjudges it, and just gifts Abhishek Sharma a catch at backward point. Seriously, not his finest moment. You could see the frustration plastered all over Kohli’s face as he trudged off. And then the camera, never missing a beat, zooms right in on Anushka Sharma in the crowd. She looked absolutely shell-shocked—like, “Did that really just happen?” Pretty much summed up how every fan felt at that moment.
