Although local police had advised the Karnataka government and RCB management to hold the event on Sunday to ensure better crowd management, the event proceeded on Wednesday due to the scheduled departure of foreign players. The celebration, initially planned as an open-bus parade, went ahead despite suggestions to limit it to a single venue. During the event, a temporary slab over a drain collapsed due to overcrowding, triggering panic. As per reports, only two ambulances were stationed inside the stadium. Injured individuals were first brought inside before being transported to hospitals. Others, unable to get ambulance access, were carried by security personnel to nearby roads for help. Karnataka’s Chief Minister later confirmed 11 deaths and about 50 injuries. He announced ₹5 lakh compensation for the deceased and free treatment for the injured. The incident raised concerns about planning, crowd control, and emergency preparedness during such large public events.
