On the second day of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, there was a high-intensity bidding war for English all-round Will Jacks during the accelerated phase. Punjab Kings (PBKS) joined Mumbai Indians, who started the bid with a base price of 2 crores for the English all-rounder Will Jacks. The bidding war rose the amount to Rs 5 crore, but eventually, Mumbai Indians managed to bag Will Jacks at ₹ 5.25 crore. Interestingly, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had the choice of using the Right to Match (RTM) card for Jacks, but they decided against it. After the acquisition, Akash Ambani, the owner of Mumbai Indians, reached the RCB management table to thank them for deciding against using the RTM card, it was a warm moment in the midst of great auction tension. These details were shared by Akash Ambani to PTI during the second day of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. For the past couple of seasons, MI had tried to combine Bumrah and Jofra Archer, but frequent injuries to Archer kept spoiling their plans, and the team finds itself in the lurch trying to rebuild a solid bowling attack, for which MI has brought in Boult. During the press conference with Andy Flower, Ambani said: "Trent Boult and Bumrah are back, that's the partnership that we really wanted. (The) left-armers are a point of difference for us, especially in the bowling line-up." He added: "A lot of the things get dictated, as Andy will tell you, by auction order. You don't kind of get, you can't have a preference on a certain player. It doesn't work like that. We are very, very happy to get Boulty back, of the person (that he is) and of the skill set."
