Adam Zampa, the Australia spinner, sort of showed why he’s seen as one of the safest fielders in world cricket, during the second ODI vs Pakistan at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. That experienced leg-spinner grabbed everybody’s attention with a rather brilliant catch, sending back opener Sahibzada Farhan. It happened at a pretty key time in Pakistan’s chase , and it gave Australia that much needed breakthrough right when they seemed to need it most. He was finding boundaries quite regularly , and helping Pakistan put together a solid start. Meanwhile Australia were hunting for a wicket, and the chance finally came when Farhan tried to go a bit more aggressive with his shot. The ball went up high towards the outfield where Zampa was positioned. Even with plenty of ground to cover, he moved fast , kept his focus on the ball, and completed a clean catch under pressure. That catch instantly lifted the energy around the Australian side. Zampa celebrated alongside his teammates, as Farhan’s innings came to an end. The wicket didn’t just snap an important partnership, it also gave Australia a glimmer of hope that they could turn things around in the game. Even if Zampa is mainly tied to his leg-spin bowling, moments like this kind of show what a real asset he can be in the field too. His awareness, his balance, and that reliable hands… turned what could have been a tough chance into a memorable wicket. Also Read | Watch: Timber! Haris Rauf Rattles Matt Renshaw's Stumps in 2nd ODI against Australia Pakistan And Australia Battle Hard In Lahore The second ODI between Pakistan and Australia had plenty of key moments. Earlier, Australia managed a fighting total after being told to bat first. Josh Inglis and Cameron Green did a lot of the heavy lifting for the visitors. Inglis made 51, while Green added 53. Matt Renshaw also chipped in with 43 down the order. Still, for most of the innings, Pakistan’s bowlers kept Australia in check. Shaheen Afridi took two wickets, and got Alex Carey out early. Arafat Minhas also impressed with two wickets, including the important scalps of Josh Inglis and Marnus Labuschagne. Abrar Ahmed then matched that momentum by dismissing Matthew Short and Cameron Green. Haris Rauf added another wicket too, removing Matt Renshaw after a delivery that crashed into the stumps. Australia closed at 202 for seven in 46.5 overs. Oliver Peake stayed unbeaten on 16, and Nathan Ellis was there at the time the innings began to wind down. When Pakistan started their chase, Sahibzada Farhan looked like he was ready for a bigger role. But then Adam Zampa’s excellent catch ended it all, and gave Australia the kind of breakthrough they really wanted. The visitors will be hoping that moment builds pressure from here, while Pakistan will look to keep chasing strongly and move closer to victory. Zampa’s catch could end up being one of those defining moments, if Australia can find a way to fight back into the contest.
