In the 1st Test between India and England at Headingley, Leeds, fans got a glimpse inside the commentary box that soon generated word on social media. It occurred on the fifth delivery of the 21st over. Brydon Carse delivered a ball outside the off stump, and the Indian opener KL Rahul left the ball calmly without even considering hitting a shot. It was a perfect leave which demonstrated a decent judgment of the batter. Sanjay Manjrekar, who was commentating at that moment, took this opportunity to compliment KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal on their shot selections and restraint. But what he said afterwards caused a stir. Manjrekar said: "A former batter would have gone after that delivery, once played that shot and got himself into trouble, but not these two." Though he did not mention any names while commentating, social media fans soon indicated that it appeared to be a quiet jab at Virat Kohli, who has frequently been dismissed while going for balls outside off stump. Manjrekar has also been in talks previously for his comments on Ravindra Jadeja and now, his subtle dig at Kohli has once again sparked buzz online. Openers KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal kept dealing in boundaries, hammering 16 fours in total. HHowever, there was something to cheer for the English side just before Lunch. Brydon Carse, who bowled the 25th over, dismissed a well-set KL Rahul for 42. In the very next over, the left-hander and debutant Sai Sudharsan fell for a duck on just his third delivery. Although most of the session went in India’s favor, these two wickets at the end brought England back into the game. Yashasvi Jaiswal remains unbeaten on 42 off 74 and will be joined by Indian skipper Shubman Gill after Lunch.
