Vaibhav Suryavanshi made a dream IPL debut on Saturday against Lucknow Super Giants, creating history. At just 14 years and 23 days, the Rajasthan Royals opener became the youngest player ever to feature in the IPL. And he didn’t take long to make an impact, smashing a six off his very first ball, bowled by Shardul Thakur. Suryavanshi gave his team a flying start with a 20-ball 34 that included three sixes and two boundaries before he was dismissed by Aiden Markram. As he walked back to the dugout, the youngster was visibly emotional, with cameras capturing him holding back tears while glancing at the scoreboard. The moment caught the fans' attention and has gone viral on social media. LSG edge past RR in a final-over thriller Despite a promising opening stand between Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Rajasthan Royals fell just short in their chase of 180. After the 14-year-old's dismissal, LSG capitalised by removing Nitish Rana cheaply. Though Jaiswal led the charge with a mature 74 off 52 balls, while Riyan Parag chipped in with a quickfire 39 off 26, the team were not able to find boundaries at the right time, thanks to LSG's bowling. However, both set batters fell in the 18th over, leaving Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel to finish the game. With RR needing 9 runs in the final over, Avesh Khan kept his cool and conceded just six, sealing a narrow 2-run win for Lucknow Super Giants. Avesh Khan was the player of the match for his 3/37. Earlier, Aiden Markram and Ayush Badoni smashed half-centuries while Abdul Samad's quick 10-ball 30 helped LSG to get to 180/5 in their 20 overs. Wanindu Hasaranga led the bowling attack for RR, grabbing two wickets. Rajasthan Royals have now lost four matches in a row. They find themselves in eighth place on the points table with just two wins from eight games. The team needs a massive turnaround to stay in the playoff race, as their hopes are currently hanging by a thread. They will return to action on April 24, Thursday, when they face Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in the reverse fixture.
