As the second Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 is just a day away, the speculation around the playing XI of the Indian team for the Adelaide Test is much awaited. Amid the speculations and hype, the former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has urged the Indian team management to bring Ravichandran Ashwin into the playing XI for the day-night Test match citing that he has a stellar record in Adelaide as well as in the pink ball. Sundar sealed the spot in the XI after his phenomenal performance in the New Zealand home Test series. Wasim Jaffer asserted that Ashwin has a brilliant record in Adelaide, and he is more likely to get help from the Adelaide pitch. Wasim Jaffer tweeted: "I want India to play Ashwin. Spin always plays a part in the D/N Test, Ash has done well there before. Washi (Washington Sundar) hasn't done anything wrong but with Rohit (Sharma) & (Shubman) Gill back to bolster the batting, play your best spinner is what I think. Mitchell Marsh, who was doubtful for this match has been included in the playing XI and will be interesting to see if he bowls in the match or if Australia manages without his bowling service.
