Former Pakistan cricketer and commentator Wasim Akram believes Pakistan has a real chance to beat India in Test cricket, especially on pitches that heavily favour spinners. His remarks came after India’s shocking 0-3 series loss at home to New Zealand, marking their first defeat on home soil in 12 years. India, who were traditionally strong at home against spinners, struggled throughout the series, particularly against left-arm spin. New Zealand’s bowlers, notably left-arm spinners Mitchell Santner and Ajaz Patel, effectively neutralized India’s batsmen. Akram added that such a series would be monumental for the cricket world, given the passion both nations share for the sport. As quoted by the Indian Express, Akram said: “I would want to see a Test series between India and Pakistan,” said Vaughan on air to which Akram replied: “It will be massive. It will be good for the game, for two cricket-crazy nations.” During commentary in the first ODI between Australia and Pakistan, Vaughan mentioned that "Pakistan now can defeat India on spinning pitches." Akram further said: “Pakistan have a chance to beat India in Tests now on a spinning track. They have been hammered by New Zealand 3-0 at home.” Meanwhile, Pakistan took advantage of spinning pitches to bounce back after an early setback in the recently concluded home Test series against England. The Men in Green clinched the Test series against England with a 2-1 victory.
