Pakistan is set to host an ICC event after 28 long years, welcoming the world for the Champions Trophy 2025 in February. Preparations are already in full swing, with the country eagerly anticipating this significant moment. However, India has yet to confirm its participation due to long-standing security concerns. India and Pakistan haven’t competed in a bilateral series for years, largely due to the political tensions between the nations. The final call on whether the Indian team will travel to Pakistan for this tournament rests with the Indian government, as the BCCI has deferred the decision to them. As quoted by ESPNcricinfo, Akram said: "I think whatever I'm reading, there are positive vibes from [the] Indian government and [the] BCCI. I also read somewhere they will play probably all their games in Lahore. They will probably come to Lahore and travel [back] the same night. I'm all for it, as long as India is comfortable.” Wasim Akram highlighted that star Indian cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav have a strong fan following in Pakistan too. He assured that if they were to visit, they would be warmly welcomed. He further said: "And I can promise you, they [are] going to get looked after amazingly well. I mean, Indian cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, [Hardik] Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, they have fans in Pakistan. The young cricket fans adore them.” The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is determined to host the entire Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan. To address logistical and security concerns, the PCB has also suggested that all of India’s matches could be held in Lahore, given its proximity to the Indian border, which could help simplify arrangements.
