Star Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar is all set to feature for Hampshire in the English Cricket County Championship for the last two games. It is worth mentioning that Sundar is currently a part of the Asia Cup 2025 India squad but has been included in the travelling reserve, which means he is officially not included in the squad but will be called up if required. As quoted by the BBC, Whites said: "We’re delighted to bring Washington to the club for the County Championship. He had an excellent series against England this summer and he’ll play a key role with two big games coming up against Somerset and Surrey.” After Ravichandran Ashwin’s retirement, Sundar has taken the spin responsibilities for the Indian team, and it was evident with his performance in the recent England tour. The 25-year-old all-rounder was one of the reasons why India were able to draw 2-2 the five-match Test series. The spin all-rounder featured in four out of the five Test matches on that tour, missing out on the opening Test match in Leeds. In 8 innings with the bat, Sundar scored 284 runs at an average of 47.33, including a match-saving century at Old Trafford in Manchester that helped the team draw the match. With the ball, he clinched 7 wickets at an economy of 3.64 and a strike rate of 63.57. Apparently, this will not be the first time Sundar will be playing in English domestic cricket. He has already represented Lancashire in the 2022 County Championship as well as the One-Day Cup.
