India versus Pakistan, a much-awaited high-voltage rivalry, is often considered not just as a match but to carry emotions and revenges on both sides. A faceoff that supports a wooden bat and a leather ball, resonates the political tensions on both sides, with players at least from the 90s would die to win, if not the tournament. In such a context, former Indian pacer Atul Wassan wants Pakistan to win against India! India will play against Pakistan on February 23 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. After months of drama, the ICC finally granted India's plea for not touring Pakistan, and for that, Pakistan will be touring a different country to play a country hosted by them. And when the ICC mandates seemed to conclude the drama, BCCI and Pakistan continued it with different issues, like not printing Pakistan's name on India's jersey or not hoisting India's flag in the Pakistani stadiums. Amidst all the controversies, Wassan wants more drama. Currently, India vs. Pakistan is a crucial match for Pakistan in more game sense, as Pakistan needs to win it to keep their chances alive in the tournament. They lost heavily to New Zealand in the tournament opener. On the other hand, India, after defeating Bangladesh, needs a win against Pakistan to walk into the semis. Bringing Amitabh Bachchan's reference, Wassan told ANI, I want Pakistan to win because it will make the rest of the tournament more exciting. If Pakistan plays well and wins, there will be a real contest. It's like Amitabh Bachchan-if he keeps punching the enemies nonstop, there's no fun in watching it. I hope Pakistan makes a comeback; it will be good for the tournament. Even though Pant was announced as the first choice keeper, Gambhir chose KL as the one to play. Questioning this attitude, Wassan said, "You let Bangladesh score 228 runs after they were 35/5. Big teams will eat you up if you let them do that. Gautam Gambhir is picking his own team. I am just very upset that Rishabh Pant is not playing. I don’t know why. What is going on? Pant is a mercurial player, whom the other team is scared of. Because they know that he can win matches on his own. KL Rahul is a great player. But I don’t know what they see in him that he is playing Test matches, ODIs, and everything. Rishabh Pant is on the bench now. This is how you ruin players. If you put a good player in a situation where he keeps thinking whether he will play or not, that player will go from hero to zero." In a recent report, it was said that Rishabh Pant too expressed dissatisfaction for not being included in the playing XI. He claimed to have some external influence to get him benched, despite not being able to prove himself with the bat.
