The legendary Sachin Tendulkar attended the 50-years anniversary of the Wankhande Stadium, where he remembered how he requested Narayanswami Srinivasan, the then BCCI president, for a farewell match at Wankhede, so that Sachin's mother could see him playing. While speaking in the conclave, Tendulkar said that his mother has never seen him batting anywhere in his 24 to 30 years of cricketing career. Due to her poor health during the last phase of his career, she could only visit Wankhede, and that was the reason why he wanted to play his last Test in Wankhede. In the show, Tendulkar took a trip down memory lane when the Indian players gave him an emotional goodbye, the chants of the Wankhede crowd, and the respect from his opponent West Indies. Speaking about Wankhade's gesture, Sachin said, "Before the series of my last match was announced - I got in touch with BCCI and made one request that I want my last match to be held in Mumbai for one very reason - I played cricket for so many years - around 30 years - 24 years for India, my mother had never seen me play. At that time (during retirement) my mother's health was not good enough that she could travel anywhere other than Wankhede to watch me play. Cricket legends Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Shreyas Iyer, and Ajinkya Rahane attended the event, posing with the coveted trophy. The tournament begins on February 19 with Pakistan facing New Zealand in Karachi and India playing Bangladesh in Dubai. The final is slated for Lahore but will shift to Dubai if India qualifies, following the Hybrid Model agreement. India’s group games and the first semi-final are set for Dubai, with reserve days for knockouts and the final. As part of Wankhede’s anniversary celebrations, MCA hosted the Polly Umrigar Health Camp, felicitated groundsmen and members of the 1974 Mumbai team, and organized a special lunch.
