VVS Laxman has confirmed his continuation as head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for at least a year more; his three-year contract was due to end in September. Contrary to speculation linking him with an IPL franchise as its head coach, Laxman has decided to carry on at the NCA, where he will be at the helm with coaches of repute like Shitanshu Kotak, Sairaj Bahutule, and Hrishikesh Kanitkar. This comes just ahead of the inauguration of a new NCA campus on the outskirts of Bengaluru, slated for next year, which will have more than 100 pitches, indoor facilities, international-sized grounds, a modern rehab center, lodging, and Olympic-sized pools. Laxman has built on the platform given by his predecessor Rahul Dravid in areas such as injury management, player rehabilitation programs, and coaching programs in the present term. Revamping the India A tour program has remained patchy of late, and that would be one of the main tasks before the new term. Also Read | Everything You Need to Know About Overs in Test Cricket
