He was arrested for dishonouring cheques issued to Shree Naina Plastics, owned by a Himachal Pradesh-based businessman Krishan Mohan Khanna. Krishna Kumar lodged a complaint about Jalta Food and Beverages for purchasing goods worth INR 7 crore and issued them a cheque for that big amount. With that cheque bouncing, the bank notified Mohan that no money was there in the account from which to debit. As a payment, Jalt Food and Beverages issued seven different cheques of INR 7 crore each but all cheques got bounced due to faulty funds. Vinod and two others received legal notices from Mohan Khanna for returning his due payments within 15 days but for this, no action was taken. As a consequence, Khanna filed a legal complaint against Xalta Food and Beverages and its three directors Vinod Sehwag, Sudhir Malhotra and Vishnu Mittal. The trial court declared all three as accused last year. However, Vinod took to session court arguing that he was neither an employee nor a director of the company, his name should not have been included in this case. Vinod Sehwag has agreed to appear before the court for all the scheduled hearings. All three accused have been granted bail and the next hearing is on Monday, March 10.
