Australian former wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist has heaped praise upon Virat Kohli and has called his century at Perth in 2018 one of the best hundreds he has watched. In 2018, the year turned out to be fantastic for Virat Kohli. He scored brilliant hundreds in South Africa and England, and then he scored an incredible hundred in Perth under difficult conditions. India was coming to Perth with a lot of confidence after beating the Australians in Adelaide. However, the Perth pitch was pretty green and so were the Australian bowlers. Most Indian batsmen found it tough; Kohli, however, was different. Even though India lost two early wickets, Kohli played well against fast bowlers Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood. He scored his 25th Test century, which was very impressive. Even with Kohli having such a great performance, India lost that particular Test match, which saw Australia making a strong comeback. Gilchrist hailed Kohli's century as one of the best centuries he has seen ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. In a podcast, Gilchrist said: "Virat Kohli scored one of the best tons I have seen it at the Perth stadium - That was probably at a different gravy." India had not won a Test series in Australia before 2018. But under Kohli's captaincy, they pulled off series 2-1. After losing in Perth, India went on to win the next two Tests in Melbourne and Sydney to win the series. Two years later, under Ajinkya Rahane's captaincy, India won yet another Test series in Australia, which happened at the Gabba.
