A leader is always a leader — and Virat Kohli showed once again why he carries both in abundance. In Mullanpur, during Qualifier 1, it was Kohli's sharp reading of the situation that led to the fall of Punjab Kings’ Impact Player Musheer Khan. With Punjab crumbling at 60/6, Musheer was sent in as a desperate reinforcement. But standing at slip, Kohli sensed something the scoreboard didn’t reflect — he told Suyash Sharma that Musheer would go for the sweep shot. The next ball? Looped up. The shot? Swept. The result? Plumb LBW. Yet, what stood out just as much as the dismissal was Kohli’s reaction. There was no cold welcome, and certainly none expected — but what followed instead felt unsettling. He was chatting with some teammate with pointed gesture toward Musheer when he came to bat, seeming to carry a tinge of mockery, almost as if to say, “Look at this novice.” In high-pressure games, intensity is natural — but dismissiveness isn’t. Especially when directed at a young player still finding his feet. Anyway, with big names involved, it can be forgiven or probably celebrated! Josh Hazlewood led the attack with 3/21, extracting bounce and troubling the middle order. Suyash Sharma spun a web, claiming 3/17, while Yash Dayal struck early to finish with 2/26. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Romario Shepherd chipped in with a wicket each. For Punjab, only Marcus Stoinis (26) and Prabhsimran Singh (18) showed resistance. Skipper Shreyas Iyer fell cheaply as the side lost wickets at regular intervals. RCB’s clinical, varied bowling on a lively Mullanpur pitch ensured a dream start in their pursuit of a final berth.
