Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) icon batter Virat Kohli is now only two victories away from finally winning his maiden IPL trophy. RCB will play against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 1 on Thursday, May 29. Kohli has been outstanding this season as well, scoring 602 runs in 13 games with an average of 60.20 and a strike rate of 147.91. He has also registered eight fifties. But despite his strong form this year, there is one concern for RCB. Virat Kohli’s past performances in IPL playoffs have not been great. In 15 playoff games, he has scored 341 runs at an average of 26.23 and a strike rate of 121.78. He has only managed two fifties in those matches, with the last one coming in the 2016 final. The news is good, though, that in the past two years, Kohli has proved that he can perform under pressure in crunch games. In the 2023 ODI World Cup semi-final, he scored a record 50th century against New Zealand. This was followed by 55 runs in the final against Australia. In the 2024 T20 World Cup final, Kohli was awarded the Player of the Match for scoring 76 runs against South Africa. And in the 2025 Champions Trophy semi-final, he scored 84 runs to help India defeat Australia. With these recent big match performances in the knockouts for India, RCB will expect Kohli to lead from the front once more and assist them in reaching their dream of winning the IPL.
