Virat Kohli’s brother Vikas has fired back at former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar, who has drawn criticism for his recent remarks about the Royal Challengers Bengaluru star during the IPL 2025 season. During the high-profile clash between Mumbai Indians and RCB, Manjrekar has recently questioned Kohli’s current stature, saying the face-off between him and Jasprit Bumrah was no longer a "best vs best" battle. Adding to the stir, he also left Kohli out of his list of top 10 IPL batters this season, despite the former India captain being among the leading run-scorers in the tournament. Easy to talk about 200 plus strike rates,” Vikas wrote, in a thinly veiled jibe at the former cricketer’s low scoring rate during his ODI career. The criticism comes as Virat Kohli continues to adapt and perform on slower pitches where many batters have struggled to score freely. He recently hit his sixth half-century in 10 innings during RCB’s win over Delhi Capitals, further silencing critics who question his strike rate over his impact. “People are forgetting the importance of partnerships”: Kohli after RCB’s latest win Following Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s impressive win over Delhi Capitals, Virat Kohli offered insights into his batting approach. “It was a top win, especially looking at the surface. We saw a few games here and this wicket played out differently compared to those. Whenever there's a chase on, I keep checking with the dugout, whether we're on course,” Kohli said, highlighting how he played a steady role while Krunal Pandya took charge. Kohli, who currently has 443 runs from 10 matches and sits second in the Orange Cap race, stressed on the value of partnerships in challenging conditions. “People are forgetting the importance of partnerships and that's coming to the fore in this tournament to try and dominate the bowlers through partnerships and professionalism,” he added. RCB currently sit at the top of the IPL 2025 points table with seven wins in ten matches. Interestingly, all three of their defeats have come at home. They will next face Chennai Super Kings on May 3 in Bengaluru, aiming to continue their dominant run.
