Mitchell Marsh scored one of the innings of IPL 2026 as the Lucknow Super Giants batter hit a scintillating century against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Thursday. His fiery innings helped LSG register a massive total while even earned praises from RCB star Virat Kohli who acknowledged the innings of the Aussie batsman. High stakes contest was very significant for both the teams especially for Lucknow Super Giants who has struggled to find the form throughout the season and are currently placed near the bottom of the points table. Batting first in a rain curtailed match (19 overs a side) LSG posted a brilliant total of 209/3 which was a revised target of 213 under the DLS method for RCB. Marsh dominates the RCB bowlers Lucknow's innings was opened by Mitchell Marsh and young Arshin Kulkarni. While Kulkarni took some time to find his feet at the crease, Marsh looked completely in control of the innings from the very first ball. Marsh started attacking the RCB bowlers ruthlessly and smashed the ball easily all around the ground against Josh Hazlewood, Krunal Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The century for Marsh came in the most important occasion and completely turned the game upside down. Marsh smashed 111 runs in just 56 balls that included nine fours and nine sixes. The all-rounder from Australia eventually perished in the 17th over trying to play yet another attacking shot where he mistimed the ball and was caught by Jacob Bethell at the hands of Josh Hazlewood. Marsh was acknowledged with a standing ovation by the roaring crowd. Virat Kohli had his moment with Marsh soon after he was dismissed. Kohli was seen walking up to Marsh and acknowledging the inning by patting on his back in a commendable show of sportsmanship. Kohli's reaction also went viral across social media. (@CricCrazyJohns) May 7, 2026 Pant finds his rhythm as RCB chase a huge total Along with Marsh's incredible knock, there was some good news for the LSG skipper Rishabh Pant as well who came back to form with an unbeaten knock of 32 runs in just 10 deliveries that included four boundaries and two sixes to help Lucknow cross the 200-run mark. Pant has been criticized this season on both counts (batting and captaincy) but this innings could provide him with some much needed confidence going forward in the season. For RCB the big chase would be challenging after the rain interruption on the wet outfield. The team will heavily rely on their key batter Virat Kohli who has scored three half centuries this season and is still the most significant batter for them this IPL 2026 season. The second innings of the match will most likely be a run fest for both the teams with the favorable conditions for batting and the desperate need of points.
