The first Test between India and New Zealand at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium finally started after a complete washout on day 1 without even a toss. On the second day, India won the toss and decided to bat first in a bowling-friendly overcast conditions. Batting first didn’t pay the Indian team well, as their top order collapsed miserably. New Zealand’s pacers are breathing fire with the swinging red ball in the opening session of the second day. In a surprising move, the ace batter Virat Kohli walked in to bat at No.3, a position that he has been unfamiliar with for long years, having solidified his reputation at No.4 over many matches. The crowd buzzed with anticipation, eager to see how Kohli would handle this unfamiliar role. He was dismissed for a duck after facing just nine balls, much to the disappointment of his fans. His downfall came in the 9th over, courtesy of New Zealand’s William O'Rourke. The pacer bowled a short-of-length ball outside off-stump, using his height to generate extra bounce. The ball nipped back sharply, catching Kohli off guard. Attempting to defend off his toes, Kohli ended up gloving the ball, sending it toward the leg gully where one of the best modern-day fielders in cricket, Glenn Phillips took a stunning low catch. Soon after, social media erupted with reactions, as many fans took to X to vent their frustration, heavily criticizing Kohli’s poor shot selection during this crucial phase. Here is how fans reacted on social media: Dear Virat Kohli, You have played test cricket for years now, but now you are finished in this format. it's time to give it to the deserving youngsters like sarfaraz etc. Please Retire & Free that 1 spot.
