The star spinner from Kolkata Knight Riders, Varun Chakravarthy, feels that Virat Kohli has been a great motivator for his teammates, but Rohit Sharma is a tactician when it comes to games. Notably, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have served the Indian team as captains. Varun, debuting in 2021, has the experience of being under both names. Recently, he attended an interview with the former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, where he told about his experience with both the names. Bringing example about a match against Pakistan, Varun said, “Virat is a true leader. When you just see him, when you just observe what he is doing and you must have also noticed the match against Pakistan, you were also there. We lost first two wickets to Shaheen Shah Afridi. But when Virat came, he stepped down and hit Shaheen for six and it was so inspiring and motivational, but how he is giving it back and all this. So Virat is exceptional, as in the way he can he can cheer up everyone." Varun added, "So the main thing was whenever I spoke to him his answers were very motivational and in that thing and when I spoke to Rohit Sharma, it was very tactical. So it was two different parts.” Read also: MS Dhoni Trademarks ‘Captain Cool’ to Secure His Legacy Ashwin supports Varun Chakravarthy's view Being a contemporary of both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, R. Ashwin related to Varun's point of view. He too feels that Kohli "goes and does things," while Ro has things preplanned. He said, “So one is inspirational, the other one more tactical, which I kind of resonate. Because Virat goes and does things. He is there in your eye line, the way he trains, the way he practices, what he does. But Rohit does understand a lot more tactics in terms of what he does. Everything is tactical in terms of field placement, this batsman, this shot and all that.” Notably, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from the T20I on the day they defeated South Africa, winning the T20 World Cup in 2024. The Test cricket retirement also came almost together, right after coming back from the Border-Gavaskar Series, while Ashwin announced it in a surprise press conference after the Gabba-draw in that series.
