The Indian Premier League 2026 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium received major attention because of its upcoming schedule. Virat Kohli faced major criticism for his slow batting performance during the match. RCB scored 240 runs with four wickets lost after they chose to bat first. The 37-year-old player scored 50 runs from 37 balls. Kohli failed to achieve his usual batting form unlike Rajat Patidar and Phil Salt. The Indian veteran showed his discontent with his performance by violently tossing his helmet in exasperation when he walked to the dressing room. Ravi Shastri who previously served as India's head coach explained that Kohli experienced health issues before the match which affected his performance during the game. Ravi Shastri on air during the MI vs RCB match commented: “Virat Kohli is not in the best of health lately.” Shastri’s remarks spread rapidly online, raising concerns among fans about Kohli’s condition. The 61-year-old shares a strong bond with Kohli and has spent significant time working closely with the Indian legend. Kohli probably told Shastri about his health status before the match because of their existing relationship. A report from Cricbuzz confirmed that Kohli has been facing an ankle issue which Shastri confirmed through his statement. The reports stated that he sustained an ankle injury which prevented him from playing during the second innings. Kohli usually plays through any situation but he stayed in the dugout during the second innings against MI. Jacob Bethell entered the game as an injury replacement for another player. The team has not yet provided specific information about Kohli's injury but fans continue to worry about his ability to play in the upcoming match. RCB will next face Lucknow Super Giants at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday, April 15. Fans would hate to see Kohli miss such a crucial IPL game.
