Former cricketer for India, Mohammad Kaif, has put to rest all rumors regarding Virat Kohli's retirement from the league or possible parting of ways with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Recently, reports claimed that Kohli did not renew his commercial deal with the franchise for the next season, thus making obscure his future. Indeed, since the initiation of the IPL in the year 2008, Kohli has remained to date with his only franchise RCB, the only existing player to feature with one team for 17 uninterrupted editions. Even after winning their first IPL title last year, the speculation did not fly down regarding RCB's ownership, though no official statement has been made about any prospective sell-off or change in management at this point in time. Addressing the rumors, Kaif stated that Kohli would stay true to the team from Bangalore. Kaif said: “Is Virat Kohli retiring from IPL? No guys, Virat Kohli had promised that he will play his first and last match for Bengaluru only. He has promised this and since he has done it, he will not back out. But people are saying he hasn’t signed a commercial deal. There are two deals, players’ contract and commercial contract." The franchise's authority will soon be clear, and this may be the reason why Kohli hasn't signed his new commercial deal. Kaif added: "The reason he has not signed a commercial contract is because a new owner might come for RCB and they will control the franchise. That’s why he is waiting. If there’s a change, then there will be negotiation and all. These are all behind-the-scenes stuff" The former India batter has also reminded fans that Kohli is not going anywhere concerning his commitment to RCB and that retirement is not in the books anytime soon. "Kohli is Going Nowhere," Says Kaif Kaif, who played for RCB himself, lavished praises on the in-form Kohli, explaining how the batter delivered performances that stood out in major tournaments. Kaif said: "Virat Kohli has started playing only now. RCB has begun winning trophies now. Kohli scored 650+ runs and made them win the trophy. He made runs in the Champions Trophy 2025, was the Player of the Match in the T20 World Cup 2024 final, and the Player of the Tournament in the 2023 World Cup. He has only started playing now. He is going nowhere. He will play only for RCB" With this clarity provided by Kaif, fans can be assured about Kohli's bond with RCB. He has no intention to walk away from the league anytime soon as the Indian cricket star remains bound to RCB.
