In a recent interview with Cricket.com, the Protea legend revealed that Virat Kohli didn't like when AB revealed that Kohli is expecting his second child. And thereafter, Kohli stopped talking to him for a brief period of time. However, the fact that he did start talking to AB made the latter relieved. In the interview, AB said, "Thank goodness! Because I did have a bit of a footfall not too long ago when they were expecting their second child. So, I was very relieved when he started talking to me again." The incident happened in 2024, when Kohli second child, Akaay, was about to be born. Earlier AB informed that Kohli's wife is expecting a child but later in an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, he denied it. He said, "Family comes first and then Cricket… That information was wrong and not true at all. However, the way the news came out beforehand put some pressure on their friendship. Speaking about Kohli’s future in Test cricket, de Villiers shared that the batter was experiencing a challenging phase and turned to him for advice. “He was unsure and wanted to talk it through. I’m pleased he chose to stay; it was a decision made from the heart, and I completely back him.” ABD was seen present during the 2025 IPL final, and Virat Kohli summoned him on the stage with another former RCB player Chris Gayle, to lift the trophy.
