Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli surprised everybody with an uncharacteristic fielding error during the IPL 2025 high-voltage clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday. Renowned for his sharp fielding, Kohli missed an easy chance of taking a catch from a simple hit and conceded a boundary during a very critical stage of the game. This was the slip-up that happened in the 19th over and was bowled by the experienced pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Kohli was stationed on the on-side, ready, when Ravindra Jadeja executed a shot that seemed to be coming right for him. The 36-year-old had ample time to position himself, but lost concentration and let the ball slip through his fingers. Bhuvneshwar left Dayal with 15 runs to defend in the final over. With a few more hair-raising moments in the last over, which included a waist-high no-ball, Dayal kept his calm and led RCB in a nail-biting two-run victory. Earlier in the evening, CSK captain MS Dhoni elected to bowl first. That gamble quickly went wrong for him because, during the powerplay, Kohli and Jacob Bethell were out there just smashing the ball. Kohli played yet another knock of 62 runs off just 33 balls to his tally of 443 runs before becoming the Orange Cap holder with a total of 505 runs in IPL 2025. Besides, he had a solid 97-run opening stand with Bethell in 10.5 overs for RCB, the real acceleration however coming from Romario Shepherd. The ace all-rounder then ripped the CSK bowling apart with a lethal onslaught alongside Mahendra Singh Dhoni, scoring 117 runs for the fourth wicket. However, a second wicket partnership of 114 runs between Ravindra Jadeja and Ayush Mhatre was not enough for CSK to chase down the target.
