The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Friday released the schedule for an August-long six-match white-ball series consisting of three ODIs and three T20I matches. Following the Test matches, India, who would be traveling to England, are expected to return to their home grounds on August 4. Just two weeks separate the high-profile series from the tour of Bangladesh, meaning that some of India's regulars - Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah-might miss out. Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and KL Rahul can well miss the ODI leg. Being surrounded by the other regulars of the Test format, they are expected to rest after the exhaustive two-month England tour. Probably, they might return for the T20I series against Bangladesh, which would act as the final fixture leading into the Asia Cup 2025. The Asia Cup being held in September will probably see itself announced after this series. After his return from injury, Jasprit Bumrah is active in the IPL 2025. He will then play a tough five-Test series in England. Given his past injury due to workload in the Australia tour, the selectors may consider giving him a rest after the England series. If Rohit Sharma missed the Tests in England, there is a possibility of him returning for the ODI series. He has officially retired from T20I cricket but continues to lead the Indian ODI side; his Test selection remains doubtful. He also scored 3 and 28 in a match of Ranji Trophy for Mumbai only. He had been having a bad time before this series with averages of just 10.50 in Bangladesh and 15.16 at home against New Zealand. All these innings in a paltry 164 runs: his season of red-ball cricket consisted of 15 innings across which he averaged just 10.93. His scores so far in IPL 2025 do not help either, with tallies of 0, 8, 13, 17, and 18. Rohit, although he has been declared as Test captain of India, will not be spared the scrutiny. With Bumrah back and showing form in the IPL, a change at the top could be just around the corner. Rohit, if gazing the Test squad, is more likely to be captain during ODIs against Bangladesh.
