Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli, 52, has been admitted to the ICU of a private hospital in Thane district following a severe urinary tract infection. Doctors confirmed on Tuesday that he had developed a fever, but his condition is stable and he is responding to treatment. Dr. Vivek Trivedi, who is also the head of the medicine department at Akruti Hospital near Bhiwandi, said that cricketer Kambli was admitted to the hospital there on December 21 and the doctors had scheduled the MRI scan to ascertain how much clotting in the brain had occurred in follow-up tests. That cannot be done as the reports said he had fever:. Kambli is likely to be shifted out of the ICU in the next two or three days and discharged within four days if he remains on the recovery track. Dr. Trivedi disclosed that Kambli was admitted in a critical condition. He had an extreme urinary infection; pus was collected in his bladder, which was evacuated after admission. Remaining at home for longer would have worsened his condition. He was also suffering from fluctuating blood pressure when he was brought in. Currently, his condition is stable. The latter has also announced ₹5 lakh support through his Shrikant Shinde Foundation and assured the family of further support.
