The Indian veteran cricketer Rohit Sharma hung up his boots from the longer format of cricket, the Test cricket. Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Test cricket by making a short Instagram story that says: “Hello everyone, I would just like to share that I am retiring from Test cricket. It’s been an absolute honour to represent my country in whites. Thank you for all the love and support over the years. I will continue to represent India in the ODI format." But since then, Rohit has made claims about retirement, rather taunting commentators, saying that they can't decide his future. However, he has not been in great form in the red ball cricket since the home series against New Zealand, putting his selection for the England series at stake. As per reports, the selectors panel led by Ajit Agarkar was in no mood to get him on the team or at least give him the leadership. In such a situation, the 38-year-old batter announcing retirement may have created some rolls if nothing else. Considering his retirement from Tests, he will thus be playing only One Day Internationals, as he had already announced his retirement from T20I right after winning the T20 World Cup final in 2024. Rohit Sharma has scored 4,301 runs in 67 Tests since his debut in 2013, averaging 40.57 with 12 centuries and 18 fifties. He struck a career-best 212 and shines at home with an average of 51.73. Rohit has particularly dominated in India, while struggling overseas, especially in South Africa and Australia. As an opener, his elegant stroke play and composure have made him a key figure in India's red-ball setup.
