The Bengaluru stampede has shaken the local boy, aka former Indian captain and coach Rahul Dravid. In a recent conversation with NDTV, Dravid expressed that he is deeply heartbroken with what happened in the victory parade. Knowing the heartbeat of the state, how they root for all sports and just cricket, it was unfortunate to cost 11 lives in the name of glory. Rahul said, "Very disappointing. It's very sad. Bengaluru is a sports-passionate city. I come from here. People over here love all sports, not just cricket. They follow all the sports and also all the sporting teams, be it a football team or a kabaddi team. It's really heartbreaking that such an unfortunate incident happened. Our thoughts go out to everyone for unfortunately lost their lives and those who were injured. Such a tragedy shouldn't have happened." Over 2.5 lakh fans assembled in and around Chinnaswamy Stadium to celebrate the team’s first IPL title. The joyous occasion, however, turned tragic as a stampede led to the death of 11 individuals and left over 50 others injured. Sosale was arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) on June 6 at Bengaluru airport, shortly before leaving for Dubai. In court, Sosale’s counsel, Senior Advocate S Chouta, challenged the legality of the arrest, alleging political interference and citing procedural lapses under Section 55 of the BNSS. Chouta argued that Sosale’s name was not mentioned in the FIR and questioned the CCB’s sudden involvement after the case had been handed over to the CID. The judge also sought clarity on the authority behind the CCB’s action. The state, represented by Advocate General Shashi Kiran Shetty, said all legal documentation would be presented. Justice Krishna Kumar will hear the matter again on June 11 and examine the timeline and legal basis of the arrest.
