India Women cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy has resigned from all forms of international cricket. The decision was announced through a social media statement on Friday, July 25. She has played for the Women in Blue more than 100 times, and has now finally bid adieu to international cricket. She represented the nation for the last time in 2018 and has since managed to stay connected to the sport in various ways, broadcasting being one. She is currently a JioHotstar commentator and gives her breakdowns on the pre-match and post-match shows from live action, particularly in women's cricket matches. She has said that she wants to bid playing the sport farewell, but not distancing herself from it entirely. The strokemanship by Veda at a scorching pace proved to be decisive, as it ensured the Women in Blue secure them a semi-final spot in the quadrennial tournament. What started as the Indian team progressing to the semi-final eventually became the end of Veda's international career as well with what transpired in the final show. The other interesting stat which identifies her is that she was one of the first set of Indian cricketers drafted into the Women's Big Bash League. Another year of international cricket and a series of bad outings saw her out of the national side. She returned into contention again after testifying in the domestic circuit, but could not manage to find a way back into the Playing XI to end an unanticipated seven-year-career.
