Vasuki Koushik, the 32-year-old right-arm pacer, has made a confirmed return to Karnataka, bringing his short stint with Goa to a close. The Goa Cricket Association had signed him for the upcoming domestic season after he obtained a No Objection Certificate from Karnataka. Koushik was initially part of Goa’s plans to strengthen their pace attack, potentially partnering with Arjun Tendulkar. He had a consistent 2025 season with Karnataka, registering 23 wickets in seven Ranji matches, eight in five Vijay Hazare outings, and 18 scalps in ten Syed Mushtaq Ali games. Speaking to Cricbuzz, GCA secretary Shambha Desai confirmed the earlier signing: “We have signed Koushik. So far, that is the only confirmed transfer. We are exploring a few other options, but no names have been finalised yet.” However, with Koushik heading back to his parent state, Goa’s plans for the season will now need to be restructured. The seasoned middle-order batter had moved to Vidarbha in 2022 following his exclusion from Karnataka’s domestic setup. Now, as first reported by Cricbuzz on June 19, Nair has returned due to personal reasons. His recent domestic form made headlines—863 runs in the Ranji Trophy and 779 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy—making him one of Vidarbha’s top performers last season. That purple patch led to a surprising but deserved India Test recall for the England tour, marking a national comeback after more than seven years.
