India's triumph over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final was preceded by a strange post-match controversy, but that did not deter the players from celebrating in their own style. India mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who was instrumental in the title encounter, reacted with one of the cheekiest responses to the post-match mayhem. India won the Dubai match by five wickets, but the event lacked its usual finale. ACC president and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi was seen walking away with the cup and medals when the Indian team declined to receive them from him. The players had asked Emirates Cricket Board vice-chairman Khalid Al Zarooni to present the trophy, but their request was turned down, and the champions went without their rightful victory symbol. With the real trophy reportedly in Naqvi’s hotel room, Chakravarthy found a humorous way to express his emotions. On September 29, he shared a photo on X showing himself relaxing in bed with a tea cup on the side table, playfully hinting at the missing cup. He also posted an image of the Indian team mimicking a trophy lift at the empty podium after the officials had departed. When India had won the 2025 Champions Trophy, he had posted a picture of himself drinking coffee beside the trophy joking about the long-haul journey to success. The Champions Trophy, first going to be hosted by Pakistan alone, was subsequently made a hybrid event with the UAE co-hosting, after India had expressed concerns about safety in visiting Pakistan. Chakravarthy wasn't alone in ridiculing the incident as Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, and Abhishek Sharma also posted edited pictures with trophy emojis. India captain Suryakumar Yadav highlighted in his post that it's the champions who are remembered and not the trophy itself.
