Bihar’s Ranji Trophy squad has handed a remarkable responsibility to Vaibhav Suryavanshi, naming him vice-captain for the 2025-26 season at just 14 years old. The left-handed batter, who debuted for Bihar against Mumbai on January 5, 2025, will support Sakibul Gani, the team captain. Suryavanshi has played five first-class matches, scoring 100 runs in 10 innings with a top score of 41. In addition to his Ranji appearances, he has featured in seven IPL matches for Rajasthan Royals this year, amassing 252 runs at a strike rate of 206.55. The teenager also represented India in youth Tests and youth ODIs in England and Australia during 2025. Bihar will open its Plate Group campaign on October 15 against Arunachal Pradesh at the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, Patna.
