India and Australia faced off in the Boxing Day Test match in Melbourne on December 26. Australia got a flying start as their star 19-year-old Sam Konstas, who debuted in this Test match, scored his first fifty on his debut match and gave a solid start to the Australian innings. Konstas took charge and smashed India’s star bowler Jasprit Bumrah all over the park. His courageous knock gathered praises from fans and cricket pundits. The on-field altercation between Indian batting great Virat Kohli and the debutant. The incident happened after the 10th over when Kohli deliberately tried crossing Konstas' path and bumped into the 19-year-old opener, where both collided. Both the players exchanged some heated words during their interaction and Usman Khwaja had to interrupt to stop the incident. After the end of Day 1’s play, Usman Khwaja revealed how he sorted the verbal exchange between these two players. The left-hander opener spoke to ABC Sport and elaborated on the whole incident from his perspective that happened on the field between Sam Konstas and Virat Kohli. During interaction with ABC Sports, Khwaja said: "At the moment, I didn't see what happened. Like, I was walking kind of the other way. And then I just went, 'woah'. I kind of looked back and saw like they just as I turned around, I saw them collide and I was like, what's going on here? But yeah, it wasn't.” He further added: "Sammy (Sam Konstas) was going, he was on fire. His beans were obviously going. I just came to diffuse the situation because I was like, I like the emotion. I like, you know, there was a bit of chirp going on between Sam and Bumrah and Virat during the whole time, but I didn't want to be tainted by any physical contact.” Khwaja further added that he has known Virat Kohli for a long time now and they are good mates. He told Konstas to take a chill and relax and he will talk to Kohli about this. I’ve known him for a long time. Been mates a long time, so I was like ‘You chill, chill, go bat, I’ll talk to him and I’ll sort this out and yeah, it was fine. Something along those lines, yeah. You don't even know everything. You know guys, seriously! What goes on the field stays on the field.” Sam Konstas played a brilliant knock in his debut Test match, he scored 60 runs off just 65 deliveries. In his 60-run knock, he spared no Indian bowler and smashed them out of the park every time he felt.
