Pakistan Super League (PSL) usually takes place before the Indian Premier League (IPL) every year which allows the players to be the part of both the leagues. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) this time has scheduled the PSL along with IPL. The franchises of the league have requested the board to not arrange the tournament with IPL, but due to a jam-packed cricketing schedule, which also includes the much-awaited ICC Champions Trophy 2025, PCB had to arrange the tournament along with the Indian Premier League (IPL). This has now created a dilemma for the overseas players who used to play in both the leagues previously. The players which are already sold in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction or have been retained by their franchise will have to play in IPL, else they will have to face one season ban from participating in IPL. The salary cap for the marquee players, according to the ProSports, is expected to be between $350,000 to $400,000 ((9.72 Cr to 11.10 Cr PKR and 2.96 Cr to 3.38 Cr in INR). PSL Targets Unsold IPL Stars According to the Samna TV, the franchises of Pakistan Super League (PSL) has approached many star players who went unsold in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. Players like David Warner, Steve Smith, Finn Allen, Jonny Bairstow, Keshav Maharaj, Tim Southee Shakib Al Hasan, Kane Williamson and Jimmy Neesham received no bids in the IPL Auction last month and hence, the PSL want them to be a part of their league.
