Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) found themselves at the centre of criticism on Wednesday, after they shared a video from victory parade on social media. The video, which featured the RCB team’s open-bus parade being welcomed by fans on the streets of Bengaluru, was posted shortly after a tragic stampede took place outside M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. At least 11 people lost their lives and dozens were injured in the chaos. The post, captioned “This welcome is what pure love looks like,” was met with sharp criticism online, with many calling out the franchise for its insensitivity in the wake of a massive tragedy. Social media users flooded the comments section, urging RCB to take responsibility and show restraint. The backlash prompted the team to delete the video within hours.
