Umpire Tony DeNobrega, who was officiating a third-grade match at Charles Veryard Reserve in North Perth this weekend, was hospitalized after a ball hit his face by a batter. The West Australian Suburban Turf Cricket Umpires Association shared a photo of him on their Facebook account, which showed massive swelling on the right side of his face. DeNobrega's right eye looks almost closed due to injury, having a partial swelling on the right side of his lips. DeNobrega suffered this blow after the batter hit a straight dive that hit his face. As per the social media post, doctors have ensured no fracture, but he needs to be under observation as "surgery is not of the question." The umpires' association has also wished him a speedy recovery from the "terrible" incident.
