As the dates for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 draw near, the anticipation for the prestigious tournament has heated up. Few teams have announced their squad, while a few are waiting to finalise their squad after their ongoing series. The UAE have announced a 17-member formidable squad for the upcoming marquee tournament where Muhammad Waseem has been locked to lead the side. The United Arab Emirates squad boasts a strong lineup of players comprising Ethan D'Souza, Aryansh Sharma, Simranjeet Singh and Dhruv Parashar as a few notable inclusions. They will be playing their first match against India on September 10 at Dubai International Stadium. The upcoming Asia Cup will not be held in the traditional 50-over format; instead, it will be a 20-overs-a-side event. Right-arm fast bowler Matiullah Khan and left-arm spinner Simranjeet Singh are two notable names from the ongoing tri-nation series that have been called up for the Asia Cup, and the rest of the team has retained their spot. UAE’s first match will be against India on September 10, then they will play against Oman at Abu Dhabi's Zayed Cricket Stadium on Monday, 15 September. Their last group stage game will be against Pakistan on Wednesday, 17 September at Dubai International Stadium. Talking about the performance of the UAE team in the ongoing Tri-Series, despite being the host, the Muhammad Waseem-led side has failed to utilise the opportunities. They are currently sitting at the bottom of the table with 0 points and are almost eliminated from the tournament. They will play their third match against Pakistan on Thursday, September 4.
