Rohit Sharma made the most of the opportunity with a 32nd One-Day International (ODI) hundred to power India through to the second match of the three-match series against England. The Indian skipper ended his poor run of scores in style as he motored along to bring up the milestone with ease. All along, while batting with Shubman Gill in what turned out to be a rollicking opening partnership by the two, Rohit was the aggressor. It was Rohit who welcomed Gus Atkinson into the fray with a four and a six to get his innings off on a good note. The very next over saw a sublime maximum by Rohit over cover catapulting his ODI six-tally to 333, thereby making him the second-highest six-hitter in the format. The second boundary which Rohit stroked off Adil Rashid's first over of the game brought up his 58th fifty in the format. However, he was far from done at that point. Rohit completed his ton off an outrageous hit in the stands towards the long-off region, as India are comfortably placed on 186 for the loss of two wickets. Interestingly, the power-packed ton off 76 deliveries is Rohit's second-fastest in the ODI format. Now back into form against England, — Dinesh Ahir (@dinesh_ahir56) February 9, 2025 If Rohit Sharma can bat like this at the Champions Trophy, India become a different beast to play against. He has looked in command in this innings. — Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) February 9, 2025 Rohit Sharma & ODIs - No Better Love Story this Valentines ❤️💯 @ImRo45 — Surbhi Vaid (@vaid_surbhi) February 9, 2025 India Seals the Series with Thrilling 4-Wicket Victory Showing aggressive batting power at Cuttack Barabati Stadium, the Indian cricket team was able to successfully chase a target of 305 runs in only 44.3 overs by defeating England by 4 wickets to win the three-match ODI series 2-0. Such a high run chase in limited overs is not common and therefore much more glorified; hence, this marks the present form and confidence of the team. India came out victorious despite losing quick wickets and completed the target in 44.3 overs. England set a target of 304 runs. The players showed good performances; however, they were troubled due to the failure of the floodlight, which interrupted the match. Joe Root and Ben Duckett did well for the key players in the match, but it did not win the game. India won the game by securing two successive 2-0 leads in the series, while demonstrating quite a lot of key performers also.
