List A cricket, which comprises both domestic one-day matches and ODIs, has seen some historic team scores that once seemed impossible. In a recent milestone in Indian domestic cricket, Bihar subjected the record books to revision by notching the highest team total ever in List A cricket. Against Arunachal Pradesh at Ranchi, Bihar amassed a staggering 574 for 6 in 50 overs. It was only the second time in List A history a team had gone past the 500-run cape, and Bihar flew past that. The batters were merciless in their assault, never for a second halting to catch their breath. Vaibhav Suryavanshi went berserk with an astonishing 190 off just 84 balls in front of a good crowd. Along with Ayush Loharuka, who made 116 from 56 balls, and Sakibul Gani, who stunned everyone with 120 from merely 37 balls, enamored the spectators. Piyush Kumar Singh contributed with a steady hand of 77. And that inning changed the course of history in List A cricket. Tamil Nadu - 506/2 vs Arunachal Pradesh, Bengaluru (2022) Tamil Nadu were the first-ever to cross 500 runs in List A cricket. They did so during the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022-23 against Arunachal Pradesh in Bengaluru. Tamil Nadu made 506 for 2 with one of the greatest individual innings seen in domestic cricket. N Jagadeesan smashed a record 277 off 141 balls, while Sai Sudharsan scored an excellent 154 off 102 balls. Bowled out Arunachal Pradesh for just 71, handing Tamil Nadu a mammoth 435 win, one of the largest margins in List A history. England - 498/4 vs Netherlands, Amstelveen (2022) England came very close to being the first team ever to score 500 in List A cricket when they posted 498 for 4 against the Netherlands in Amstelveen, ODI, in 2022. Jos Buttler played an incredibly destructive inning, scoring 162 runs not out in only 70 balls. He hit 14 sixes as part of England's world record 26 sixes in that innings. Building up the score were Phil Salt (122) and Dawid Malan (125), cleared in the later overs by Liam Livingstone. In reply, Netherlands managed 266 and lost by 232 runs. In a Friends Provident Trophy match against Gloucestershire at The Oval, Surrey scored 496 for 4. The openers Ali Brown (176) and James Benning (152) set the case with a mega partnership of 294. Then came Rikki Clarke, who finished the innings with 82 not out from just 28 balls. This innings was far ahead of its era and remained one of the highest List A totals for a good number of years. England - 481/6 vs Australia, Trent Bridge (2018) Eoin Morgan's aggressive white-ball approach reached new heights in 2018. Whilst at Trent Bridge, England batted 481 for 6 against Australia, which was then the highest ODI total in history. With 147 runs from Hales, 139 runs from Bairstow, the English side never gave the Australians any chance to set themselves. Although they kept a few chances through, in the end, Australia was sent packing with a 242-run stampede, their heaviest defeat in ODIs up to that point.
